Hi, just to share with you all about my Breastfeeding experience. When my bb girl was born I was too tired so I didn’t breastfeed her until the second day and she wasn’t s*cking. The midwife at hospital says she’s good at latching just that my n*ppl* shape wasn’t in a good shape. I’ve tried a few times but she gets frustrated and keeps crying. In the end the nurse bottle feed her in hospital.

When I brought her home she don’t want to s*ck and my milk was low. On the 5th day only my milk came and I need to pump out for her. I only manage to give her breast milk thru bottle feed. I pump every 2-3 hours and each time I only manage to get 2 oz or less. Due to my low milk supply, I mix feeding with formula milk. My confinement lady wasn’t giving me good support about breastfeeding. Ending up my baby was bottle feed the whole first month. I even cry a few times when I failed latching my baby.

After my baby girl turn one month, my confinement lady left and I have a whole month to care of her before I went back to work. I told my friend about my situation and she suggests let my baby cry for a while before breastfeed her. According to her, when baby is hungry they will s*ck.    And I tried that and she was s*cking. I was so happy. Now I breastfeed my baby and I didn’t mix her with formula. She’s 2 ½ months now and I’m back to work. I pump out my breast milk at office everyday and breastfeed her when I’m back from work. Now each day I manage to bring home 12-15oz.

Although sometimes my baby still gets frustrated when she s*cks and no milk comes out (because my left breast produce more milk than right). I will reposition her and she’s ok.

To all breastfeeding mom. Don’t give up!

hi, my 1st time posting despite following the forum even before delivery of my twins in May. they were premature and low wt. this a factor that kept me going on BF. i also faced similar pressure and anxiety through the months.

as a 1st time mom, i know many will be pressured by peers (even though they dun BF themselves) always posing that same question, " why? why don't you BF?" I would say do not subject yrself to peer pressure. it is always your rights and own choice to BF. no point getting upset because of others. you need to determine whether you can or want to BF. 2ndly, folks + confinement ladies often tell you to rest, that yr BM not enough, that formula is similarly good enough or better. Again, it is your call. You are the boss. Do not be swayed left right by these people no matter how kind their intentions were.

I also started with little milk. worse still i used 1 hr to express colostrum in my 1st 24h aft labour, was told to discard tt 30cc by a nasty nurse saying i shouldn't mix. she misunderstood and caused me waste my precious colustrum. that was from continuous expression, not mixing 2 batch of milk expressed at different times.

welcome to my blog http://j1ice.blogspot.com I reviewedon some breastfeeding tools. honestly, even when i can produce 30cc of BM a day still not enough for my girls. I rely alot on electric pumping because 1st twin s*cks for comfort, not till full. She falls asleep easily. I do not have the time and convenience to BF her that often because there is another sister to feed. A friend and a consultant/nurse taught me to nurse 2 at the same time. easy to say but not so when you do it. I have tried two latching together but once 1 of them slip away, i get panic and i always need a person's help to position them nicely with pillows. It can be dangerous too    risk injuring bb if not careful. So I resorted to pumping also so that others can help feed by bottle. You see, things need to be flexible for us all as moms. Do not confine yourself to 'must do like this or like that' or you will could easily get postpartum blues too. Another reason to bottle feed my milk to 2nd twin, she is not good at latching sometimes, As she s*cks she spits out the n*ppl* too and gets too frustrated when milk is not flowing on her demand.

my friend took fenugreek to boost her BM supply. Did not quite work. so subjective.

I see you people have problem with bb constipation. having known doc's advice, give diluted prune juice or blended grape juice with teaspoon before resorting to medication like lactulose.

I am not seeking for advise here. just sharing what i have gone through. for me, time and convenience are never good enough for me. i need to pump every 2-3 hrs and even with parents' help who need to do their own daily chores too, sometimes BM expressing sessions are delayed or interrupted. often my own 2bb interrupt me. I do not want to say or plan or aim to BF till when. WIll just go with the flow else can go crazy. Don't ask why dun hire maid/ bbsitters. You won't have yr peace of mind surrending preemies to others.
Good luck to all mothers. Definitely you will experience parenting more carefreely. Love my twins, proud n happy to have them. In reality, caring is heavy duty. But will not end up as laughing stock as first time mother. Yes I can and you singleton mothers can do better.

Dear Yen Hoon,

i'm not so clear of you situation.. Do you suplement yr baby with formula? How you baby weight? Gain much or not. If much, why you said yr supply is low? I'm not a lact. consultants. But i still manage to BF my 7months bb and keep stock pile in my freezer.

Please email me. cl_yong@hotmail.com .

Hi all,

Kudos to all new mothers who are determined to breastfeed their babies.

Despite all the readings, I still wasnt prepared to face the challenges of breastfeeding. I discovered that it is NOT EASY to get bb to latch on and later found out that many babies actually DO NOT know how to s*ckle. YES, this is TRUE! And I also found out that new mothers actually DO NOT lactate automatically after birth. Many mothers do not even get a drop of milk coming out. YES, this is also TRUE! The amount of breastmilk cannot be predetermined by the size of our breasts. And, YES again, this is TRUE!

Therefore, I would like to seize this opportunity to educate new mothers that should your newborn refuses to s*ckle, do not worry that he/she will not be able to receive your precious colostrum and breastmilk. Rest *ssured that you can now have a viable option to EXCLUSIVE PUMPING! People will tell you that your milk will dry up if you pump exclusively without letting your baby s*ckle your breasts. This is NOT TRUE if you arm yourself with a good quality breast pump and pump diligently.

I am a good example. My newborn refused to s*ckle at birth no matter how hard I tried to get her to latch on. Finally she had jaundice due to delay in expelling meconium, as a result of lack of fluids. I caved in and decided to formula feed her instead while I still tried to get her to s*ckle on my breasts but failed. Nevertheless, I continued to pump and feed via bottle thinking that my milk supply will dwindle and stop soon after since I couldnt get my baby to s*ckle/stimulate my breasts.

Finally, I came across an article which enlightened me on EXCLUSIVE PUMPING and I am delighted to announce that I am still feeding breastmilk to my 4 1/2 mths baby via pumping. The important point to note is : THE MORE YOU PUMP, THE MORE MILK YOU WILL GET.

So, to all you new mothers and mothers-to-be, please do not be discouraged with all the challenges of direct breastfeeding. You now have an option to EXCLUSIVELY PUMP for your baby. The only difference is that your baby will not drinking direct from source.
hi Wai Ying,

Hi,

FIrstly, do u know why your bb refused to s*ckle? U need to find out why. If u can address the reason and she s*ckles again, then no problem.

If u need to find out more abt exclusive pumping, check out these websites

Hi CP,

it's nice to be able to give such a variety of food but hubby's side allergy history really bad     so no eggs/soy/milk based stuffs till she's bigger. even fish oso gotta wait (paed told me).

oh...meaning you totally skip rice cereal & feed her other food instead? may i know are you SAHM? i only have weekends to prepare food for her (i am FTWM) & freeze to send to sitter. i will try giving her millet later when her rice cereal is finish. i add my BM to rice cereal & she like it, hehe.
ha ha, anyone realize that we already gone out of topic. went to solid food already....

Hi Janicelly,

I start preparing baby and send to my mil to feed my baby every morning since last week. What i do is, plan and prepare the food in advance. The next morning, steam all the food together in a pot. I use a med**m size sauce plate to place the vege/fruit (eg potatoes & carrot) and small s/stain cup to cook brown rice. Before, i soak the BR overnight in refrigerator, and before steaming, i use the little pan (for fried egg) to cook the BR first, then only steam. This is to shorten the steaming time for brownrice.

I brought the Philip mini blender to prepare baby food. i warn my maid not to use this mini blender to blend chili.

After clean and change into my working dress, i will start blend the baby food.

At first, I blend potatoes and mix with some BM, then pour into a small container.(for baby Breakfast) Then without washing the blender, i blend carrot and mix with BM. (For baby lunch),    and finally, put blend the soft brownrice and mix with BM. (for baby dinner). I will label the tupperware with otato; potato & carrot; potato, carrot&brownrice. That simple and fast.

So less work for my MIL loh..My mil want to keep the baby food in fridge first and later reheat with hot water and feed my baby because the food contain BM.

I'm happy to prepare food for baby. So would blame myself for not being a SAHM.

Hi janicelly

I’m a new mommy and I’m still experimenting with food for my BB... not much experience to speak of.    If you are looking for varieties, there are so many types of vegetables and fruits.    For me, I also want my BB to try millet, yogurt, tofu, egg yolk, cheese, pasta, bread, fish and so much more as and when they are age appropriate for her.    So far, I find it fun getting her to eat solid food.

I have not given my BB commercial rice cereal yet as I want her to have as much homemade food as possible.    I fed my BB rice (more like pureed porridge) with a bit of her formula as first solid food but she didn’t take much at all.    Maybe she was not used to taking solid then and it tasted quite bland.    I’ve not tried rice since as I’m still allergy testing her with various vegetable and yellow food (eg sweet potatoes) so that I can mix and match them to make rice porridge and soup later.

Hi All,

My BM is very little as well.... I used to be able to pump only abt 10oz a day... and that's on a good day. However, ever since I went to see this Acupuncture sifu... she has taught me how to m*ssage and my BM has since increased to 15oz a day. Although it's prob not much compare to other mothers but at least I have since increased by 5 oz. For those who are interested, you can always msn me at lynnksl@hotmail.com.
Will explain to u how over there......
Another way is taking Fenugreek pills... However, i've been told not to get indulge in supplements for increasing BM purposes.
Happy BreastFeeding all mothers!!!
