Hi Peggy

Totally agreed with you to mandi with boil water. Even water from the heater also cannot. My first experience was few years ago (1st child in 2004), that I wanted to brush my teeth in the morning, so I don't want to kacau my mother in law (normally, she will bring the boil water in the morning), using tap water.    That nite also, my whole hand was "numb" and painful.    Guess it was the side effect of using tap water instead of "cold" boiling water.

For me, i just used the herbs to shower and only wash 3 times of hair during my confinement. Even if i wash hair also used herbs only. My mum said during confinement, if want to shower, have to use boil water, cannot used tap water, afraid of masuk angin

Dear Margarita,

Hi! Do you notice that hair pores larger that skin pores. So larger pore are easiler "masuk angin" and the senang sakit kepala.

I can't follow the wash hair taboo. I wash at the 12th day, then another time at 4th week. My 2nd sister, have a short hair, wash 2time a week for all her confinement (3 children). My eldest sister, have a long hair, wash every week during her confinement (2 children).

If you must wash, wash during noon when the weather is "hot" and quickly dry it with hair dryer. In teory and practical, i don't understand how can "masuk again" during "hot" weather.

Yes indeed, I asked my gynae(Indian doc) about it and he asked me not to simply follow taboo and should go home and ask mum how can masuk angin. Mum said she washed after 1 week during noon time and quickly dry using hair dryer. Mil and sil said they lasted for 30 days, I guess they expect me to do the same, but I plan to wash at 12th day, if I can stand it. Can't care much what mil and sil gonna say...

Hi Bee Koon,
I didn't wash for whole month. I poured powder on my palm, then use the other hand to spread to the hair, top to bottom, , upside down, etc just like spreading hair conditioner. After that, comb hair and tie it up tight (malays believe if tie hair, will prevent wind to enter through head.. true or not, i don't know). After you comb hair, the powder is spread out.. so it doesn't look too white on the hair.. just a little bit.    But the scalp does get itchy sometimes so I just the end of the comb (the type that has a long sharp end) to scratch it.
I guess you can try it now before confinement so see if you can bear with not washing for 1 month. My sis said during winter, it gets too cold to wash hair everyday, so sometimes she uses powder to absorb the oil.
Currently I have short hair and still need daily wash of hair. Previously with long hair, sometimes I wash alternate days coz too troublesome to wash and dry and style every day. Even short now, hair will get oily and sweaty every day. The weather in M'sia is so hot. If winter, maybe I'll be able to bear not washing for days. Kinda weird, we can have bath, but not wash hair? Body and skin also the water can seep in, not only the head right? I don't quite understand why can't wash hair le...

My sister from the USA taught me to use baby powder on the hair. It absorts the oil and keeps me sane that one month during confinement! I've not tried the dry shampoo but powder is definitely cheaper than dry shampoo. I sprinkled powder every 2-3 days all over the head and then comb and tie the hair. It worked well for me.
Hi Choy Pheng, did you keep your hair unwashed for only 11/12 days or for the whole month? Since you used baby powder, so hair will look white and weird? I would like to try your method but just worry that hair will look white and weird le..

Hi,
I want to ask about the Comfy Care dry shampoo for post natal confinement. Is it really good during confinement.? Is somebody have use the product b4? Is thr the dry shampoo jz hv one brand only?
Thanks
Hi Penny

I have used the comfy care before. It was good to use during confinement time as I dared not take bath.Less itchy. Anyway, I found out a new product    from shl confinement cares (www.shlcares.com ) recently, their no rinse product in liquid form, easy to use and less messy compare with dry powder. I even use their body bath to bathe my sister baby as she cried a lot when we bathed her.But with the body bath, we managed to clean her body without soak/put her in a big pool of water.
Hi yen_laputa,

I am interested in the no rinse shampoo and body bath you mentioned and visited the website shlcares.com. How much are each of these products and do they deliver the items by post if I want to purchase them? My confinement will be in Nov 2008. Thanks...
Hi margarita90,

If i am not mistaken, the no rinse shampoo is about rm40. As i had purchased numbers of items from them.Surprised to find out that they have eu yan sang products with very good discount too .

Ya I'm using Wella brand previously. Actually I think most the dry shampoo are the same. But for more relief better you blow your hair with hot hair dryer b4 apply it. So that the oil on the scalp will dry and would not stick too much dry shampoo on your scalp.
