Just want to know any mummies pump BM in workplace? Where u pump? Will the colleagues gossip about it? (My workplace majority r female, like to gossip).
Expressing BM in the office shouldn't pose a problem esp in a female environment. I was doing there with males in my office as well. It takes some education for them to know why you want to do it. I have my own story to tell which you can read from here : http://babysmooches.blogspot.com/2008/09/milk-scandal.h tml it wasn't an easy journey for me but I did it with persistency and support from other mothers.. and I do wonder why should your colleagues, esp FEMALE colleagues gossip about you? Kinda inconsiderate isn't it? Just know what is best for your baby.. All the best Sharon boo babysmoches.blogspot.com |

No need to put you bag inside the fridge. Just put EBM will do. Better to put your EBM into yr office fridge. When go home only put you EBM and ais pack / or chilled (same thing but i use ais cube and if emergence, can buy from any restaurant) into you mobile cooler and than take home. If you don't want people to see yr EBM, just wrap yr EBM bottle with cloths or put in a colored tupperware or storage box then only put inside the fridge. Remember to label "Adeline Property"
Dear Chen Ling, Thanks a lot 4 d tip... i think i'll go buy a coloured tupperware box 4 my EBM...
Dry Ice can get from any department store. you can find it from department which selling camping's things. it is in blue bottle. just freeze it in freezer until it harden then is ready to use. very convenient and last longer and no water drops as normal ice. Cost RM9.00(small); Rm10+ (big) |

Hi bf mommies, I normally pump at my office surau n I am a non-muslim . Speak to your muslim colleague first b4 using it for the first time and you may be surprised, most of them are very supportive of bf. I normally sterilise all my bp, bottles etc at home in the morning b4 leaving for work at 8am. I keep my bp etc in a clean food grade plastic zipper bag after I sterilised it. I normally pump twice in the office, around lunch time (12noon) & another time right after office hour (5.45pm). After first pump, I will wash bp etc using baby bottle wash n soak the bp etc in sterilising tablet n water in a container for next pumping session (any food grade plastic container with cover, can get from hypermarket or dept. store). I just wash and leave the container in the office at the end of each day . I find using the sterilising tablet in office is cheap, quick n easy. It only cost RM19.90 for 50 tablet. Each tablet mix with water can last for 24 hours. Sterilising complete within 30 mins of soaking but only take the bp out when u r ready for next pumping session. For storage of milk, I use medela cooler bag that come with 1 reusable ice brick. This can last 12 hours as office is with air-con. I don't need to chill my milk in fridge anymore coz I am lazy to walk to another dept where the fridge is located. Tip is do not open n close the cooler bag all the time and when u do so, make it really quick. My milk from my 2 pumping session will remain chill at the end of the day when I reach home, around 7-8pm. Happy bf. < br> < br> |

I don't recomend any mommies to use the tupperware or plastic bag because cannot keep the nutriention properly. The best is use baby bottle to store breast milk. for more information you can visit www.llli.org.
I plan 2 do this when i pump @ work: after pumping in2 baby bottle, put d bottle in2 d cooler bag with ice-pack or chiller (r they d same thing?) & put it in my cubicle... Do u think tat's ok? Or do I have 2 put my bag in2 d fridge?

The bag come got 2 compartment. Both compartment also can keep warm or cool stuff. i don't use ice pack. Just only ais cube only. No more additional cooler. if you interest to know more, email cl_yong@hotmail.com and i will snap some photo of the Lock n Lock cooler. Yes, there is a distributor for Ameda Lactaline in KL. Yes it is 3way operation but cannot use rechargeable battery.

hi, I have questions on how to store the breastmilk. Because I heard some mummies put it in the yogurt plastic tupperware (the homemade yogurt, you can see at psr mlm) or even in iceream plastic pack. But I doubt how do we sterilise those things?

I bought the cooler bag from Jusco Maluri. It was in black and blue colour and located at the tupperware item. It ablity to keep thing cool is low. What i do is, place all the EBM bottles into a thick and big hawker plastic bag and put a tray of ice-cube then only put inside the cooler. Then still got space to store my pump collection kit. I'm using Ameda Lactaline. you go and have a look for the cooler bag first. It might not suitable for your pump. You may use the bottom compartment to store you specta 3 and the top compartment for you EBM. The bottom part can store 6-can and the top part can store 3-can.
Do u mean tat u put in a tray of ice-cube AND a cooler (also called ice pack, rite?)? May I know if your Ameda Lactaline can b found in Malaysia? It's 3 way operational, rite? (AA batteries, electrical socket & car battery operational...) Wat do u mean "The bottom part can store 6-can and the top part can store 3-can"? Do u mean 2 say tat d bottom part can store 6 bottles on top of d pump??? Thanks a lot!

Hi, Chen Ling. You said "Never buy a special cooler bag for BF mum because very expensive. Lock n Lock cooler bag cost me RM49.90 only. i put the pump in the top compartment, and EBM, bottle, and pumping Kit in the bottom compartment." May I know where can I find the Lock n lock cooler bag? Does it come with the ability to keep things inside cool? Or did u add ice packs to it urself? Thanks!
Also, may I know roughly how many bottles of BM can d bag contain? And wat is d brand of ur breast pump? (cos mine is the spectra 3... mayb it's 2 big 2 fit in2 d bag??? wat abt the medela harmony...? it's a bit smaller, i think...) Thanks!

i pump milk at my cubicle cos it's convenient - electrical socket is there, hehe. my bosses are ok with it (they are female). if i know my male colleagues are going to come back to office (which they seldom do), i will just use a cloth to cover up & continue with pumping. as for storing, i will put inside fridge to chill & take home end of the day. i will usually take 16oz to chill & freeze any extra. the next morning, i will send the chilled milk & frozen 2oz (from older stock so i can rotate my back up stock) to baby sitter the next morning. as for gossips, can just ignore those ignorant people. we are giving the best for our baby!!!! |

i pump my milk in the toilet too... sometimes i oso pump in the server room :P. it's cold in the server room.. so i will cover myself with 1 big cloth (sarong) and pump. i store my milk in the office freezer and left it overnite. Will only bring back the milk the next day. so basically i will make sure the milk is frozen before i bring it back... for mommies that super kanchoeng on the milk quality, u can invest on dry ice.. a bit pricey but it works la.. |
