I bathed everyday after delivered 1st bb. Since there wasn't any effect on me, so 2nd bb also I bathed. I sweat alot after eating ginger meal. If I sweat, I find myself dirty. Not so hygien to handle newborn bb. |

i'm not sure how true is the side effect thingy but from the health point of view, wouldnt it be a little unhygienic if we dont bathe? Like Molly mentioned, how to breast feed if we are dirty and sweaty? will the milk be salty? these pantang came from china.. issit because the weather is different from ours? i'm not too sure but i believe after bathe, you need to dry yourself up thoroughly. i even had my hair washed every 3 days. i sweat a lot..from the intake of ginger and black pepper....bathing reduces my stress and i enjoy breastfeeding my baby... |

Believe it or not, I didn't take any bath for both my confinement period. ha.ha.. Too scary from old folk's stories... What I heard was, it is advisable to bath with water boiled with herbs. Normal water from the pipe is from the water tank which has already store water overnight and it's not good. After taking bath, you are advisable to drink warm drinks or soups so that you will sweat out... just so to make sure that there are no water (from bathing) abosrb into your body through the open pores. Else when we are old, we will start feeling here pain and there pain... masuk angin... |

i bath during my second confinement after doctor remove my plaster (i had c-sect) Once in 2 days using herbal water. Pretty easy to prepare the herbal water, just bought from chinese herbs stall, they have those type like tea bag. btw, i wash my hair too! i dont think it's hygene not to bath as i'm holding & feeding my bb. |

Pei Sze, actually it's better to bath in herbal water if u want to bath. water from heater its actually not advisable because first of all, it's not boiled thoughoutly. you might risk getting wind after that. there are reasons that old ppl suggest that u either bath with herbal or wine only. its because herbal/wine will make the body hot and help to expel wind, also prevent wind going in. do not try to wash your hair using water from heater as well. if u want warm water, u have to ask someone to boil it for u and let it cool a bit first before bath. do not mix with cold water.
I'd like 2 share my experience during my confinement as 2 the bathing issue. what my mum (@ my CL) did 4 me was 2 boil the herbs with the old ginger skin (came from scrubbing the ginger b4 cooking it with pork vinegar... (yucks... i had so much of those it sorta put me off permanently off meats.....))... lots of old ginger skin... then let the water cool somewhat... then b4 i wiped my body with the water, i add some white alcohol said 2 repel wind also. i must say i enjoyed this part of my confinement the best. |

hi, i bath too (water heater) for every confinement i had but i washed my hair once a week. i'd read an article from magazine, our old parent will not allow us to take bath n for them last time the water not as clean as now, so they rather don bath n like Elaine said no water heater last time. but, if we don take our bath can imagine how hot n sweat we are.(smelly too) just my 2 c. |

i have read a lot of article about this. Actually there are a lot of pantang is come from our old grandmother until now. And last time the bathroom is build at outside and they don't have water heater also. But now we have the inhouse bathroom and the water heater, so that no a big problem to take bath during confinement time but make sure after take u have to mop it dry quickly. If you worry that, that you may add in the rice wine inside the warm water. Try not to apply shampoo. |
