I mentioned I had the brown/ dark red discharge after my gynae visit (2 tmes). Luckily it was not happen after my recent visit.

Doc said could be due to walking too much/ not enough rest. Definately not due to ultrasound ;-p

My gynae also advise against chinese medicine during pregnancy cos some of them have high mercury content. But I did take pao sum once a week during pregnancy

But there was one week when my mum and my MIL both boil pau sum for me so I had 2 doses... end up I had rashes which was very itchy. So I think moderation is the key.
Yes, I found that moderation is the key too. I love to eat durian and beef last time. So when durian came out recently, first time taking it, I took 7 'bao' in 1 session itself. Ended up the next day I had rashes all over tummy and very itchy. Beef also same, husband never eat it, so I thought I was having a great time and ordered 1 whole plate during steamboat and finished the 6 slices myself, but ended up having rashes all over the next day too. After that, for weeks I dared not touch durian, but after that I tried with 1 'bao', then 2 'bao'. Eh, nothing happened woh...so after that, each time, I take at most 2-3 'bao' per session...hehehe..

I am now 8mths pregnant. I heard that when near delivery should drink coconut(the water plus the white fles) to get more 'leung', is it true? Does it help for easier delivery too? What's the function ah? What other foods can take now/should take now to ease delivery? Thanks...

Teos,

Congratulation to you! You are such a brave mummy for giving birth to a healthy & 3.74 kg baby gal. Is your baby coming on time or early compare to EDD?

Hi,

I had gave birth to healthy baby girl last week. 3.74kg.....quite surprise with the weight. I don't have any discharge until the day before delivery I felt like period pain n some reddish discharge ( a bit only).

I took pao sum also...but until the last month I didn't take it as most people said by last month wahtever you eat will not go to baby...I not sure ler..but by that time I already don't have apet*te to have anything.

I think as slong as taking anything in moderate potion, it is consider good.....

Teos, not sure if you hv delivered by now...        I tot the discharge will be heavier when u r nearer to EDD?

I did ask around. Some said bcoz of urine dirty, placenta previa/ placenta abruption, harmless ...etc. But as u guys said, it really depends on each & every individual. Let's see if it will happen again after my coming check up on 5/9.

I take 'pao sam' too & red pruns soup but not sure can take till    deliver/ hv to stop now?

BTW, Aida I am 29 wks now.
Hi,

You are around 29 weeks. About half way through your pregnancy. The texture of mucus plug is very very thick brownish mucus. Like thick glue and about 1 tablespoon quant*ty. I had it when I went into labour early at 36 weeks!

You can call your Dr anytime if you are worried. Esp, if you have pain in your lower abdominal area when you have the discharge.

Take things easy.

Actually it is depends on urselves whether or not to take chinese medicine. I never told my gynae about chinese medicine that i took even he asks me whether take any other medication or not. For me, both doctor and sinseh will have their different opinion on each other methods. I believe in chinese medicine as I was pregnant whicle consume it and as long as this sinseh is trusted, so I dare to take. So, it is hard to say who is right or wrong. I trusted both of them and the most important is I feel much better after taking the medicine. My 2nd pregnancy make me feel more dizzy and easily feel tired compare with 1st one. Now, it is about to end of it, I feel thanks to both of them even their style is different.
I took "pao sum", ginseng, even took bak kut teh.....I eat everything but with moderate potion. I just follow what my heart's say and I heard by doing this, my baby will be happy too..!! well, dun know it is true or not but my son now likes to eat eevrything and he never choose on food.....maybe just coincidence pa......
well.......oh ya..about going to higher places, I never heard of it. But my frends always said..cannot travel during pregnancy. I think maybe is because moving around to much paWell, hope you will recover soon and enjoy ur pregnancy....

Oh yes...i told my gynae if I have the discharge. But eveyrtime I visit him, I didn't get it. SO, from the scanning, everything is ok. My 1st pregnancy not so worry. It is my 2nd pregnancy that the discharge became too frequently. As I also consume chinese medicine, so I had advise from the sinseh. I boiled some leaves (advise from sinseh) to drink it n it seem to recover. Then after few weeks, it came again and I repeat the same things. As for my gynae, he said everything is normal. He said if I had it continuously for 2 days, then I should visit him immediately. So, lucky all this while only happened for few hours.
As long as doc check baby is growing n everythign is just normal, so no need to worry about it. Unless u have it for few days then u should go see doc immediately.
For the last 6 week, I don't have any discharge. Now just wait for baby to come out.......
Hope you will be ok....
My gynae from Gleneagles told me not to take any chinese herbs at all, plus ginseng. So never took any herbal tea, only drink barley when heaty. Bak kut teh also I dare not take. My gynae also said cannot go to high places like Genting highlands and Cameron, so I never dared to go. Got 2-3 times mum cooked chicken soup with some 'pau sam'(not sure what it's called in English), so had to take it although worry it's against what gynae said. Luckily nothing happened.

I experienced it when I was 4 month pregnant. According to my gynae (Dr. T.S Tan), it's harmless polyp. It will go away once i delivery my baby. It will only bleed if i walk too much or had intercourse.

how many weeks pregnant are you? the discharge could also mean you are losing your mucus plug, no need to worry, some ppl lose it weeks before birth of baby. if its bright red, then go doctor immediately.

Teos,
Did you told ur gyanae about your situation? What's his advice?

Hi there,

I had it for my first pregnancy. But it stop within few hours and just for 2-3 days throughout whole pregnancy. Then 2nd pregnancy become too frequent (due on sept 1st 08). Started to get it every week but luckily everything is ok. As long as it is brown/ dark in colour, i am not so worry about it. But, as long as you inform doctor during check up, i think you won't face any problem.

cheers,
