Eldest is 4 & youngest is 20mths. Youngest is 'faster' in most things (physical, speech, temperament)compared to elder during that age. Adeline, the difference is in handling the kids. You're right in the sense that by the time the 2nd came, you already know how to wing it. Wont be so kancheong over little things that might upset bb. And tend to let the younger one just survive , meaning, let her cry, or maybe let her fall a bit.. then she'll learn. In terms of quant*ty, there's more work around the house & less time. Hah...every mom's nightmare! For me, since the gap is quite manageable (2.5 yrs), i tend to ignore the elder while tending & more attention to younger. Also tend to scold elder more (since she understand) & more tolerant to bb (since i know she doesnt understand). Yeah.. i do realize its unfair to the elder, but i try to explain and do make effort to just spend time just with her alone. |

My son is 2 yrs old now & my daughter is 2.5mths old. I find my 2nd bb is more 'alert' than her brother when he was at that age. |

my 2 kids are 16 months apart, dont know about the IQ thing but my 2nd is faster in everything compare to my daughter. i dont think its true but the work of going from 1 kid to 2 kids and also day to day is quite difficult but do-able.
I have also heard tat there is BIG difference going from 1 kid 2 2 kids... in tat d work is much much more... (but tat there isn't much difference going from 2 to 3 kids... i guess it mayb due 2 mummy getting d hang of things already???) So I'd like 2 have some advice from mummies of 2 kids (or more) on how u had coped with d transition of 1 kid to 2 kids... Thanks! |

My son & daughter is different by 14 mths. I had my 2nd preggie when my 1st bb was 6mths, but my 2nd seems learning thing faster than the 1st. so i think the IQ low thing for close pregnancies is not true la. |

Yup, l hope it's not true also. How's your Haemoglobin count? above 12.0? Do you breastfeed you bb? I still do coz she doesn't like formula one.
I still dunno my Haemoglobin count... but just knew tat i'd failed my Glucose Challenge Test... cos d highest acceptable value (by University Malaya Hospital) is 7.2... Mine was 7.8... so i've got 2 go bc 4 Glucose Tolerance Test... No..., i've stopped bf my bb since he was abt 1 week old... sigh... |

Never heard of the IQ things wor. Now it already a fact, can't change. Why not you visit gynea to get more professional advice. You should plan the babysitter problem, how to cope with 2 young BB instead of other ppl judgement. Take care and be a happy preggie & newly mommy. |

Hi everyone, I’m in dilemma right now. I just had my daughter 9 months ago and now I’m 2 months pregnant AGAIN!! We wanted to have children close in age, but we didn't plan for them to be this close. Has anyone else had this experience? How can we break the news to family and friends without getting that look of, 'Gee, couldn't you keep your hands off each other until your baby was at least 1 year old'? My Hb (Haemoglobin) count was always around 9.0. Since I was in this situation, I probably would have BIG problem now (I haven’t go to clinic yet). Help….any advice..? p/s : I heard ppl say that if 1st pregnancy and 2nd pregnancy too near (less than 2 years), the I.Q. of the 2nd baby is low, is it true? THANX
I dunno if d IQ of d 2nd bb is gonna b low or not... I sure hope not... Cos my 1st bb is now 5+mths (going on 6 next wk) and i m 4mths preggie... I didn't get d look of 'Gee, couldn't you keep your hands off each other until your baby was at least 1 year old?' when i broke d news 2 my family & colleagues... (i think i got more of d "i feel sorry 4 u" look ) But looking at d horoscope of my 2nd bb... (his Mercury will b in Saggitarius... which is so-called 'fall' position 4 Mercury) i don't think he/she (still dunno d gender yet) would b all tat smart... SIGH.....
