I still cook porridge and bring out for my 1 yr old son. I store in Thermos. from Lunch time go out till night...the food still warm with vapour come out from porridge wor... I try not to put green vege for the day when I go out...coz might overcook and the taste and smell not so nice lor... But I think it depends on how old is your kid lor..if older then no need to cook...should be "easier" food lor... JL |

Hello CP. Below are the snacks i take during outings for my kids. P.S - all available in Malaysia (heh heh... unlike Aida) 1. fruits like orange, apple, banana, grapes, longans, rambutan. when my bbs are toothess, i feed bird style.. i chew into small pieces then p*ssed it to them.. Feel free to feel gross! 2. dried fruits like raisins & dried apricots 3.plain biscuits -like cream crackers. sometimes 'tiger' biscuit or biskut merry - but in limits cos it could be too sweet 4.plain cornflakes (NOT the flavored ones like honey stars or choco pops) 5.corn kernels - buy sweet corn & steamed for 5 minutes. Tossed dry & keep in container. (provided your bb already has teeth) 6.buns/bread Being in tropical country, cooked food turn bad quickly. so i do not bring cooked food for trips. But i just bring baby cereals. and add milk when mealtimes. Although cereals are kind of sweet, but will do cos outtings doesnt take days.and also for convenient sake. |

CP, firstly i am *ssuming half the stuff i hv maybe not available in msia but here goes. my daughter has the thermos Foogo as her cup, its straw cup, but insulated and stainless steel and can keep milk up to 12 hours..i love it cause it dont go basi. but we seldom put milk in it, but more like yoghurt drink. in my diaper bag for snack, i hv fruit like banana, strawberry, bluberries and the berries family cause they are easy. dry food, i hv organic teething biscuit for my son and for my daughter, i hv peanut butter on whole wheat bread or biscuit. she is not too fussy and dont snack as much, she loves her yoghurt drink so we hv that. we also bring the kellogs cereal bar since she loves that. my son is 95% breastfed when going out so we dont bother much about his snack. as for the thermos, u dont hv to cool but since msia is hot, you can put your food in the thermos and put it in the fridge, that way your food wont be too cold for bb . |

TQ samycl and Aida for your suggestions. I try not to give my BB commercial baby food if I can help it and am wondering what other convenient options there are other than banana. On the thermos/cooler, that would mean I need to chill the homemade food in the fridge first, right? Hi Aida, what finger food and dry food do you give your BB? |

What long can homemade baby food such as carrots, baked sweet potatoes and potatoes be kept outside of refrigerator? I’m thinking of using them as snacks for my BB during outings.
freshly made or frozen. If not milk, and freshly made, i think shouldn't be a problem. some more, these food tahan lama. just make sure the container is dry and clean. If spoilt, should have bad smell.. At primary/secondary school, also got brought food to school. No problem also... before, if went out for eating, i will bring cool bm and cereal. prepare n serve before my meals, so during my meals, baby will happy happy because already be feed.. if u worry, why not keep the food in small cooler or food jar that can keep cool? now baby took other solid, so for my next outing (shoping) i plan to take banana and mash only just before serve. if not bring rush and mix with water and serve also can. |
