Hi CP,

how did you feed your dd avocado? fresh or steam? i thought of feeding my baby avocado but not too sure on how to do it. just scoop and mesh? my baby is 8.5 months and he's into the same habbit too. spitting saliva.. sometimes he even spit his porridge...like playing bubbles. when we said no, he'll purposely do it again.. sigh... then i'll have porridge on my face...
When I feed my BB avocado on its own, I would just cut out a small piece (you can scoop it out too), mash and mix with some water.    No need to cook.    But make sure the avocado is soft/ripe enough to mash.    When I feed her vegetable, I blend it together with avocado + water so that it is not so bitter.
how to select taste-nice-avocado to buy?
Hi Kylie

You can GENTLY press the skin of the avocado with your finger (not too hard please as you do not want to spoil the fruit for the next customer).    If it feels slightly soft, then it is ripe.    Before I feed my BB, I usually cut a little bit to test it first to make sure it is ripe enough.    If it is not ripe enough, I just wrap it up and try again later.    I heard that you can speed up the process by keeping it in a brown bag with or without a banana.

Hi Catherine

I’ve not given my BB fruits yet except avocado as I’m still allergy testing her non-sweet food .    So far, I’ve only tried, rice, avocado, kalian and yun choy.    I’ll probably try other fruits for her after the yellow food.    I’ve stopped for about 1 week when she developed rashes after taking yun choy.    Strangely, she did not poo for 3 days even I stopped feeding her solid.

Hi Aida

I think my BB knows how to drink from the sippy cup as I can hear her gulping sometimes.    She just likes to play with it and same thing for the normal cup too.    She even sprays out her saliva sometimes for fun.    I suppose that is another topic ... how to get her to stop before it becomes a habit (she has been doing that for weeks now) besides saying no.    Usually, I just let her as she seems to be having so much fun with it.

Her poo poo is usually pasty now that I’ve started her solid ... which I read is normal.    I tot change of poo poo schedule is also constipation.    No poo means less work ... ha ha. But I don’t want her to suffer lah.    That’s why I try to get her to drink more water through diluted apple juice.

I heard that prune juice will do the trick.    I wonder if I can give my BB the adult Del Monte Prune juice or Brands’ prune essence... diluted off course.

everything takes practise. give your kid a straw and some water, see if she will s*ck. my son is 6 months old, can s*ck from straw and not just regular straw but the straw cup that dont drip so hv to more work and s*ck. i was also very surprised. he dont know how to s*ck sippy cup but can drink from cup. so i think different kid also progress differently.

the poo is normal, if your kid cry when poo and the poo like hard guli, then constipate but if poo 2 - 3 days and like regular, no issue. my son on solids and also poo every 2 - 3 days. i am still breastfeeding and before he start solids, was exclusively breastfeed, he oni poo once a week and one time didnt poo for 16 days..so nice!llol

i personally dont find juice necessary, i dont give my son juice. my 21 months old girl get diluted juice only a few times a week. you can do home made, no worries about pasteurised as long as you boil the water.

My BB is going to be 7.5 month old and I’ve just started her on solid for a few weeks.    I did not seriously train her to drink water prior to starting solid to avoid water intoxication and my PD asked me not to.    Now, I spoon feed her to get her to drink some water but she mainly sprays it out for fun.    She does the same thing when I cup feed her or give her a sippy cup.    I manage to fool her to drink for a few seconds if I use her milk bottle.    In short, she does not take much water.

Since started solid, my BB sometimes does not poo for 2-3 days when she used to poo everyday previously.    In addition to tummy m*ssage and cycling-in-the-air exercise, I tried to get her to drink more water with homemade diluted apple juice to avoid constipation.    She did not take much at all.    Anyway, I stopped giving her the homemade juice when I read from www.wholesomebabyfood.com that juice should be pasteurised.

Do mommies here always use commercial bottled baby juice instead of making your own?    Commercial baby juice is so expensive.
