Hi Jaylow,

I’m impressed that you make your own yogurt.    I would like to make some for my dd and hope you can guide me a bit on this.
I did some research and understand that yogurt needs to be cultured at certain room temperature. How do you go by maintaining the temperature and do I need a thermometer to monitor the temperature? OR Can we just set it at room temperature since it is generally hot in Malaysia?

Thanks,
Kelly

Actually why don't you consider changing milk instead of giving yogurt? Coz my pead did not allow me to give yogurt to my 9    month old also!

Mamil Gold has good probiotics!

Why don't you make yogurt yourself? Got many brands of yogurt maker that ease your life when you have so many things to do for your little ones....

I know EasyYo is good. The yogurt maker I bought is from New Life in SS2.

You can use organic full cream milk to make...much better than outside.

Yogurt is good for baby in terms of health and intestinal health. However, if diet that contribute to constipation does not change also will still have constipation wor.....thats my experience with my son. After diet change, no more liao....even eat yogurt or not.

Also those probiotic is good too for baby. For skin, intestinal health and immunity. Thats why got Immunofortis lor....

Hope it helps....

1) How much yogurt did u make with 1 litre & 12 tbsp of milk powder?
2) Any brand of baby milk powder will do, izit?
3) You put half cup of Anlene yogurt in as "starter", rite? (But here is where i stumble... cos all those commercial yogurt sure have some preservatives, etc... no?)
4) What is d difference btw Prebiotic & Probiotic?
5) What is wheat germ? (is it a kinda powdery substance?) where do u get it?

So many questions... thanks a lot, yeah!
1) 1 litre milk will produce 1 litre yogurt
2) yes, but if with full cream milk, it will make yogurt smoother and creamier.
3) I put only half cup ma....and even though got chemical is only very min. They can't multiply. Its the friendly bacteria that is multiplying to form 1 litre. Get it?
4)Probiotic is the friendly bacteria. Prebiotic as far as I know its the created environment that encourage friendly bacteria to breed successfully.
5) It is a kind of "sort of cereal" that is rich in fibre and vit E.    Its not powdery but like the bran lor....you can get it from most organic shops. Just Life is emphasizing put it with other 2 items in your soup or drink or porridge.

Lim,

I use the New Life yogurt maker...so its very easy. You just put milk powder (guideline is 12 tbsp to 1 litre) and stir with room temp or mild luke warm water. After completely dissolved, put half cup of Anlene (or other brand) of plain yogurt bought from the store. On the swith and off the switch after 6 to 8 hrs. Keep in the fridge. Only add fruit when you just about to eat.

You can use blender to blend. It will look like the commercial type "flavoured yogurt". I tried with the mango. Nice!!!
But if you eat a bowl of it, I use mini blender from Braun. Can just blend in the bowl itself.    Also you can add probiotic capsule inside the yogurt. Little bit of wheat germ also can (prevent constipation).

Prebiotic I not sure where to get. But I let my son take probiotic. I get it from my friend. Her nutritionist says its safe for young babies too. For more info on where I buy, you can email me because MJ pple tend to delete my post as they are very sensitive pple leh.....

But probiotic you can get from many brands, but not sure all suitable for bb or not leh....mine its in powder form. Even can put in the milk for bb to drink.

Hi,

If you find yogurt starter not convenient, then you can use the plain yogurt in the market as "starter". Nestle, Anlene, etc...any brand as long as its natural in flavour.

I always use Anlene plain yogurt as starter.
And you can use any kind of milk to do. Then you add your own fruit (blended).

I am trying to say probiotic is so popular nowadays even Dumex add to their milk powder and name it Immunofortis. Its Pre biotic and probiotic.

Other company sell probiotic as supplement. Even you can see those moms shared that their pediatrician recommend too....lacto something...the brand...

But there are other brand too. I just open the capsule and put in my son's milk. its very good result v all these good bacteria including those in yogurt. They help babies to digest milk better, prevent loose stools or diarrhea and make sure babies absorb iron coz no more green stools.Thats my experience.....
