My son is 4 years old and his kindergarten does not have exam at all even at 6 years old. This is fine with me as I don't want to pressure my son. My son enjoys his school very much. So far also, he does not bring home any homework. His school does not believe in exams and will have evaluations every 3 months. His schools does not stress their students and have activities like story telling, computer cl*ss, music and movement, art and craft, library to borrow books and lots more every week. Although he might not be as clever as those student from other kindy that have lots of homework and exams, but my son is creative in thinking thanks to this type of education.

Hi Molly

Yes, the kids will hv exam twice a yr.    Normally teacher will do revision with them before the exam wk.    No worries, I think your gal can do well.    My kids do hv exam in school but no placing enforced in the cl*ss.    I found it’s good & not much stress for the kids & parents

Hi,

Ya.. sent my son to bao bei. It's not serious studying. More to activities and games to make it not bored and indirectly learning chinese.

As at today, he's there bout 7 months already and showed achievement which is more than my expectation. He recognises bout 450 words already and is in 'C' card.

Bao Bei has few branches. Maybe you can go to google and search for Bao Bei for their branches closet to you.

My son's exams results are out and to my surprise, he got no 3 despite he is underage...

1) English 98%
2) Math 100%
3) Malay 99%
4) Chinese 100%

I'm happy for him but my mom is complaining behind my back that I'm pressuring him too hard.

I'm really annoyed with that b'cos I'm not asking him to study 24 hrs. He just need to finish his homeworks and that's all. What she suppose I should do? Let him watch cartoon 24hrs or keep playing non stop?

I send him to cl*ss like Bao Bei and music, it's more to relaxation and fun. No serious studying at all... so is that called stressing him??

Wah..your gal's kindy got so many subject ka?

My son will be having his 1st kindy exam tomorrow. 5yrs old cl*ss but he's only 4. Sigh... cos I sent him to kindy when he was 2 and teachers doesn't want to repeat him cos they don't see it necessary.

He's only going to have English, BM, Chinese and Maths. Guess their exams is basically to see if they understand what they are learning.

Some parent's may not like it but I think it's good cos it's a preparation to them for their primary school. My son has a lot of homework as well and teachers are telling me not to stress him cos he's under age.

So mostly I let him make his own decision but so far so good.

The school will rewards the top 3 students with trophies. Wonder if my son will get a chance for that?!!? he..he..

Will update the results in next reply..
