hi emily, my daughter started to go to OT n physio when she was about 11 mths old.    the dr. said her gross motor skill is delayed by 4 to 5 mths. other development is ok. at that time she just starting to learn to sit by herself. i personally feel that m*ssaging help a lot, coz it will stimulate their nerves and senses. the therapist suggested if possible let the baby to step on rough surfaces like gr*ss or soft sand bare foot. hope this help.
Thanks Mama_echah. Thanks yhloe, Dr told me my dotter was slower then normal child. She is now 19 mths but she is just like 9 mths bb. Thanks for the info.

My 13 mths bb girl still can't sit up without support, crawl, hold thing and stand, never use her hand to point or bye bye. She was only able to turn by 11 mths but not able to turn back even now. She can sit walker walking around grab things and put in her mouth, playing with u and laugh happily. Dr said is not a good sign as she like to open her month and hold her hand like a small bb. But I have send her for blood test and MRI, result is normal. Any one of you that faces this before. I really don't know what to to.

Movement by mobement could take almost half minute. She even have her first tooth after a year, when other baby is start to stand she on her attempt to crawl..pity her but she's healthy and cute
Latest i bump into her, she's now active learn and play. feeling relieve..coz i love her and afraid something happend inside her that we dont know.
Dont worry about something that not sure. It will adding your stress. i pray that your baby is just a bit late from other baby, not that she have something wrong inside..do update us here about her ok..

emily, early childhood intervention program, at least the ones that works in North America (i am currently overseas) is they deal with kids with suspect disability or issues like what you are having. they will do run tests not medical but more behavioural and then jot down what the kid can do or cannot do. then they will tell you what they think and you go the medical route from there. also they will continue to work with your child from then on. these ppl are normally trained physiotherapist and behavioural therapist.

all that said, i try google if such program is available in malaysia, and i saw in kepala batas, they have or probably just thinking about setting up a centre, i dont know where you can get info about this but maybe the kementerian kesihatan or woman's development? also try asking your trainer, she/he may have some contacts or know what is the program all about.

if you are curious about how it works and for more info, try googling it and you can see these programs in other countries. the earlier you get her in, the better. hopefully you can find and get her in before the year ends.

good luck.
Hi! All. My dotter is now 19mths still not able to sit up by herself but If u put her to sit, she can, without any support. Still cannot crawl or walk. I have send her to GH as recomended by her Dr. Now still waiting for the blood test result. Meanwhile, the GH Dr has arrange OT and physiotherapist cl*ss for her. She also recomend us a childhood intervention centre in Penang. Hopefully these will help.

i send both my children to tumble tots, but my children don't have the problem like yours.    maybe you should discuss with the trainer about your bb condition so they can advise you which cl*ss your bb should joint, coz they have many cl*sses for specific age. they have trial cl*ss , so you can see if the cl*ss suitable for your bb.
Thanks Chandra, I will meet up the trainer to discuss about it.
Aida, may I know what is intervention childhood program and where can I get it ?
Thanks.

Thanks for all the advices. I'm now bsy with her again not on this issue.......O..G... ! She got fever and red spot on her foot and mouth. DR said this is one of the HFM, so I need to take care of this first. Meanwhile I will be sending her to tumbletot , anyone been there b4 does it help ? I really don know, as MRI can't detect detail, now waiting for GH arrangement (very long queue). I now let her try to stand and sit on the floor, teaching her to hold and pushing things. Really....really....hope for improvement and miracle........

emily, a few moms told me that you should check out if you can find an early intervention childhood program in your area. they will run test and see where your daughter falls developmentally. the earlier the better, you will then get referred for medical diagnosis. i really dont know if there is such programs in malaysia but i think if there is places where you can get your kids to be tested for autism and allergies, i am sure you can find an early childhood intervention program. perhaps a physiotherapist can evaluate her?

also, the doc may do a muscle biopsy and see what is going with her muscles if the MRI is clear. but not everything can be detected on MRI either. you may also want to get a 2nd opinion from another ped.

good luck and keep us updated.

Emily,
I wish I can help you.It must be a great worry to be in such situation. Pls do get detail check up. I dont know how the doc is not concerned over you bb's problem. Did he/she suggested treatments or recommend other doc for diagnosis?
My frens nephew was almost in this condition. He was not able to turn or sit till a year+ and he was rather small for his age too. But somehow he improved as his mother contantly train him to sit and walk. She always m*ssage his legs .Now he is healthy 3 year old. A bit slower than other kids but he's catching up in his own pace.
I'll keep your gal in my prayers...hope she improves. tc

PW syndrome maybe the issue. also maybe the doc should check her pituitary gland for tumors, dont be alarmed with the word tumor, its just maybe its a growth pressing on her pituitary gland that is causing her some endocrine issue which in turn is causing the "overgrowth" aka chubby. how much does she weighs anyway?

are you still feeding her formula or breastmilk? how does her diet looks like?
